We had a cool hang with our friends at Mad Ruffian bringing this green screen performance of Donde Estas by Ivan Cornejo to life! The goal was to create an abstract representation of Ivan's hometown (Riverside, California) indicative of something built by hand for a theatrical production. We created a bundle of cg environment assets from prop buildings to stage flats for the background, and explored all sorts of new avenues for these whimsical, painterly materials. Our North Star on this project was a collection of super neat concept art like this one, created by our pals at Mad Ruffian.
During the exploration phase, we went through numerous iterations of the layout and style of the 3D set. Here's a little piece showcasing all or most of the notable renditions we ran through before landing on the final look!
